The IOPAX (Input/Output Processor for SCSI and AlarmControl) board is a multi-function unit, and has the following tasks:
The IOPAX board is used for accessing the peripheral storage devices (CT, HD) of the service modules. Its main task is controlling the exchange of essential data between the service module common control and the peripheral storage devices. The IOPAX provides a multibus interface to the data processor (DP) and the interface processor (IP, MIP) and also the SCSI (small computer system interface) to the HD and CT, or any other type of data storage medium with an integrated SCSI. The board offers connections for up to 7 disk or cartridge drives via its SCSI bus.
The front panel of the board contains a 7-segment display, two keys (CT and LD), an SCSI-interface and a V.24-interface.
