The STMA can be connected to an ATM switch or directly linked with another STMA via an optical waveguide (OWG). The fiber optic interface offers 4 (logical) ports in both operating modes (PBB and IW).

The STMA can be used as a reference clock supplier.

The STMA board can only be used in the Hicom 300 architecture types 80 CMX or 600 ECX.

Two further operating modes for remote Hicom users are planned for Hicom 300 E V2.0 (FUP).
