The signaling unit SIU is used to supply the system with audible tones, announcements and music on hold.

In addition, it also contains dial tone receivers, DTMF receivers, a test generator and a test receiver. The parameters for the different generators and receivers can be loaded during operation.

In its basic configuration, the SIU is part of the service unit (SU), and is thus to be found in the common control shelf (variant X).

As an expansion unit, the board, equipped with other firmware, can be used as a DTMF/MFC receiver in any desired peripheral mounting location of the SWU.

In the basic configuration, the SIU has the following functions:

• Tone generation
• Audible tone receivers
• DTMF receivers
• Voice announcements
• Music on hold
• Test generator/test receiver

As an expansion unit in the SWU, the SIU has the functions:

• 8 DTMF tone receivers (variant X1)
• 8 MFC tone receivers/transmitter (variant X2)
